Nov. 21-25, 2019 Quail Camp with New Friends, New Dirt Many Photos by Robert Poor
The Sierra Vista crew ready for the morning hike. Beau C., Robert P., and Miles M.
Matthew C., Beau C., and my French Britt, Gunner
Matthew shooting an O/U Beretta for the first time in his life.
When the covey flushes, you KNOW where they are going! Straight up. Do you see the hunter?
Great habitat. Boulder packed drainage coming off the steeper slopes with adjacent bajadas. Good ground escape cover. In a place like this, if you put in the miles of boot leather, you'll most likely find birds.
Gunner and I with his mountain goat retrieve. The left to right crosser smacked the cliff face and rolled part way down it. Photo by Robert Poor.
Cock Gambel's and Robert Poor's Connecticut Shotguns RBL 16 ga. SxS. Trophies, one and all.
Robert's French Pointer looking over a majestic view. You gotta love the Ariz desert.
Great mix of habitat: grass cover, prickly pear, mesquite, juniper. You see the two hunters?
Matthew's triple. Tough to do with a twin barrel !! The staggered flush allowed a quick reload. Gunner made the 3 retrieves.
Robert's young pup Braque Francais, Opal, becoming a bird dog. First points this trip on wild birds.
Fourteen year old, Miles McClain, with his O/U 12 ga. Was a joy to get to hunt with this young man!
Ready for our second day's morning hike with a great crew.
